ABASCO custom-built boom reels are an ideal way to stow oil containment boom for quick and easy deployment and retrieval with limited personnel. Reels are available either skid-mounted or skid-on-utility-trailer. Skid-mounted is for permanent installations or where other means of transportation are available. The skid-on-utility-trailer reel is more versatile and may be transported with a 1/2-ton pick up truck to cover a broader area. At the spill site, the boom may be deployed directly from the trailer. Alternately, the skid can be off-loaded to a boat or barge for deployment.

ABASCO boom reels operate from docks, piers, boats, barges, offshore platforms, trucks, trailers and other similar locations. The skid and reel are generally fabricated from aluminum and sized based upon the cubic storage capacity required by the boom requirements with several power options available along with the options mentioned in the product sheet.

Features: Aluminum boom reel and skid has fork-lift pockets and lifting eyes for easy movement. I-beam frame for easy securing to marine or road vessel. Hydraulic motor driven reel mounted off the drive shaft. Carbon steel skids powder coated are available upon request.

Dimensions: Skid: Size determined by boom storage and power requirements

Reel: Size determined by the cubic storage capacity of boom

Power Unit: Boom reel is powered by either a cart mounted or skid mounted hydraulic power unit having either a diesel engine or electric motor power with hydraulic pump, hydraulic reservoir, gauges and controls mounted in a powder coated aluminum frame. Optional power cart would be made of aluminum and powder coated. Manually operated reels are available upon request.

Options: Options include a PVC reel/power protective cover; air boom inflators; brake with manual reels; spreader lift bar; tow bridles and anchor systems.
