Our service teams at DSS Protection have been hard at work in both Nova Scotia and Quebec, helping prepare vessels for the upcoming season through Marine Evacuation System (MES) deployments, installations, and crew training.
In Nova Scotia, we successfully deployed a slide and a link raft, which was then removed for servicing and will be reinstalled next week. In addition, we installed a brand-new MES along with three link rafts.
Over in Quebec, our team installed an MES and a link raft, which was deployed for testing and crew training. After use, the system was removed for service and has already been reinstalled this week.
Why Deploy MES Systems?
MES systems are required to be deployed periodically to complete a Gas Inflation test. This deployment is not only a regulatory requirement—it’s also a vital opportunity to train the vessel's crew in emergency evacuation procedures and to provide our technicians with hands-on experience and continuing training in servicing these complex systems.
Each successful deployment and installation brings these vessels one step closer to being fully operational for the season. We’re proud of our team’s technical skills, attention to detail, and ongoing commitment to safety.
